Who are we?

Youth Ambassadors are a diverse community of committed and inspiring teens ranging from sixth grade to university students. This group of leaders strives to connect to their community by influencing with the powers of peace, love, and compassion. Together, they deepen their understanding of what it means to have compassion in their lives. They plan for global change to our futures.

Our History

In October 2007 more than thirty Seattle-area youth from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds were invited to participate as Youth Ambassadors to mark the arrival of the Dalai Lama in Seattle, Washington.

The five day event was named Seeds of Compassion. The Youth Ambassadors found more than speakers and activities in those five days. They found their hearts and minds turned toward their community. They found that they are bright lights with limitless potential. They found they could make a difference. They found family.

Youth Ambassadors Today

The diverse group comes together throughout the month to build friendships, explore compassion, and to carry out service projects that touch people in need. Through these activities, they improve their community while honing their leadership skills and deepening the compassion in their hearts.

The founding chapter of Youth Ambassadors is located in Seattle, Washington. Membership grows through invitation and word of mouth. Additional chapters in the region are planned for 2009.

The Youth Ambassadors are supported by college-age student mentors. These students provide guidance and set a positive role-model example to the teen-aged members.
